Escape modern-day Manhattan for a moment and step into pastoral Arcadia. Charites combines baroque music, gesture and poetry to evoke that idyllic world where nymphs and shepherds reigned supreme.  Featuring music by Youll, Morley, Blow, Purcell, Luzzaschi, and Caccini, along with John Weldon's Judgment of Paris.

Charites joins forces with OperaRepo and the Columbia Collegium Musicum to stage Johann Adolf Hasse's and Pietro Metastasio's festive 1760 opera, Alcide al bivio, an allegorical battle between Virtue and Pleasure.  With tenor Sean Parr, conductor Mark Seto, and artistic director Sarah Meyers of the Metropolitan Opera.
Sponsored by the Columbia Collegium Musicum, Columbia Graduate Student Advisory Council, Columbia Arts Initiative, and the Italian Academy at Columbia University.
