![]() Originally from Enid, Oklahoma,
soprano BROOKE BRYANT is a PhD candidate in
Historical Musicology at CUNY Graduate Center, where she is
also enrolled in the Renaissance certificate program. She is
writing a dissertation on the roles of gesture and optics in 17th-century
singing, and has presented several papers
on 20th-century popular music and feminist theory. Ms. Bryant is an adjunct lecturer at Manhattan College and teaches learning through writing as a Writing Fellow at the College of Staten Island. She earned a B.A. in Music and Medieval/Renaissance studies from Wellesley College, where she staged a production of Henry Purcell's Dido and Aeneas as her senior thesis project. Ms. Bryant studies with Sally Sanford, and has performed as a soloist throughout New York City and Boston with esteemed ensembles such as Sendebar, Ensemble Chantarelle, Musique de la Reine and the Clarion Music Society.
