Originally from Toledo, Ohio,
soprano BRETT UMLAUF began studying voice at Dartmouth College, where
she earned a degree in Classics. After college, she moved to
Washington, D.V. where she sang with the acclaimed Doc Scantlin and his
Imperial Palms Orchestra. In New York, Ms. Umlauf has studied
voice with John Fiorito and Mary Ellen Callahan and holds the position
of soloist at 10th Church of
Christ, Scientist. She is on staff at Barnard College. Ms. Umlauf
is also a member of the Columbia Collegium Musicum, with whom she
recently performed Pergolesi's Stabat
Mater with period gesture and costume. In addition, she sings
with the NYC-based ensemble Musique de la Reine. She lives in
Morningside Heights with the artist Joshua Torin McKeon.
